Our task was to hit the bulls eye then we scream out snag, our coach was Cambell, he taught up some pretty good skill on how to play the game, we can wait for our next lesson.

News report: Food Technology

Technology:
At Tech we made a lot of food, we really enjoyed eating and making it, my favorite recipe was chicken kebabs on a stick.

Firstly we had to cut the chicken into cube and then we had to dip it into soy sauce. The we got, eggplant, capsicum, mushrooms and red onions, we chopped it up into equal parts and poked it through the kebabs stick.

Meanwhile after we finished all our items we put it carefully into the oven, and lifted it until the chicken turned Golden. We were the first to finished, we took a bite and it felt like we were in paradise. We love technology!!

Retreat

Retreat Experience.
Our retreat at the St Francis Retreat Center was so amazing. We got to pond and we also got to know each other better. We had a Great time there, learning about the three words Tika, Pono and Aroha really made us come together as a family. My highlight at the retreat was so awesome, listing to my new role model Kid president really gave me the courage to stand us for what is right.

What really inspired me was that “ you don’t need to have a badge our some that say’s you're a leader, because of in you’re already a leader. At our retreat our key word was awesome, we tried to be awesome to each other and it worked. No matter what your always awesome. KID PRESIDENT!!

Cathedral Writing/Visit

On a lovely morning our school was going on a very special trip to the St Patrick's Cathedral.  Our trip was a pilgrimage journey.  It was a trip so we can go through the door of mercy at the cathedral.  Pope Francis has declared this year to be the Year of Mercy. Each diocese has a designated door at their cathedral to be blessed as a door of mercy.

As soon as we got there we were all excited because of some of us haven't been there before, the Cathedral was huge and it really looked so beautiful, It was time for us to go in the Cathedral we all gathered around the door of mercy, in to the door we went. It was so lovely when we walked inside because it was so quiet, people praying made the cathedral so holy, we all sat down, we were introduced by an lovely lady.

After meeting the lovely lady it was time, It was time for mass Father larry prayed and introduced our school to the whole community. We carried on with the Mass, during the Mass Father larry was singing his hymn he had a very loud and beautiful voice we were all shocked, it was time for the communion hymn. Now we were going to sing bread broken. I felt very nervous because of I was going to play the guitar, and it was my first time playing the guitar inside the Cathedral.

Once the song was over I was very happy and at the same time I was proud of myself. I took a deep breath and off I went to receive the body and blood of Jesus Christ, after communion we all sat back down for the end of the Mass.

Finally the lovely ceremony was over. As we lifted the Cathedral all of us sang a song, it was called mercyful like the Father. During the song we blessed ourselves with the Holy Water and off we went walking out of  the door of mercy. Outside we waited for the others, looking at the tall building was amazing.

Suddenly my stomach rumble I was very hungry so then we all walked to the lunch room and had our snacks, I was so full. Sadly it was time to leave we really enjoyed going  to the Cathedral I hope we get a chance to go back some day and explore more about the Cathedral!

Te Oro experience

Te oro Visit

On a lovely Morning before the lunch bell rang, the Year 8’s all gathered and off we went to Te Oro. We were invited to go to Te Oro because of we were asked to go to see some art painting and to see the Sommerville special school perform. So off we went.

As soon as we got there we were welcomed by other members of the Te Oro, we were put into our first activity. Our first activity was to make art fan, it was pretty hard but at the same time it was a great art experience. After our first lovely activity we were told to have a tour around Te Oro. We didn’t know where to start, it was a huge building so we split up and off we went for an adventure around Te Oro.

Once our adventure was over we decided to go an see some performances by some of the somerville school. They had a lovely item, “the crowd goes wild.” They really amazed the crowd. At Last the wonderful performance was over and it was time to do some more fun things. We ran around like a bunch of elephants looking for something that really amused us.

Sadly our time had come to an end and it was time for us to head back to school. Overall it was a fun experience I really hope we could go back some time this year.

Science Roadshow 2016

Today for one block during school time we went to Tamaki College for the Science Roadshow. I went with a couple of Student from my class in Joshua's dad’s car. We were going so that we could Experience the way of Science. When we arrived we all had to line up with Room 5 in front of the Auditorium, then St Helier's came along and stood next to us.

After 5 or 10 minutes of sitting and chatting we finally we got into our program with the specialist, we were now allowed to go and check out the wonderful and outstanding experiments.  I wasn’t sure where I should go so I decided to go to the speed ball, then I went to the next station. The station I went to next was the tennis speed game, I had to tap the button  fast so that it can see how much force you can put into the buttons.

Afterward we were called back by Shane the Instructor we were all very excited but sadly it was time to leave. Overall I really had fun I wish we could have it again. My favourite part out of all the others was the Tennis Speed Game. Ka Kite

Holiday Recount 2016

On the first day of the school holidays it was very boring so I decided to watch a movie. I watched heaps of different movies my favourite type of movies are action movies, my favourite movie is the Falcon rising it’s about a man called John who received a phone call from his mate saying, that his sister has been robbed and is badly injured.

When he heard that she was hurt he rush to the airport and took the first flight to Brazil. His friend  waited for him then they both went to the place where his sister was found, when they got there he saw these boys one of them was wearing his sisters necklace then he followed him but he didn’t know that it was his sister's friend.

Afterwards he asked the boy if he knew his sister then he said yes” so then John look and look for clues but then he saw the detective with his sisters thing giving it away to the bad guys, then he called the cops and said that the detective was bad. Finally John made his move and went to go and arrested the detective. At last the case was solved the detective was the person who killed John's sister.

Overall the Movie was fun and interesting I really enjoyed the First week of the holiday I hoped it was a longer holiday.

First tennis lesson
Recount writing

On a lovely hot sunny morning straight after the bell rang for the ending of morning tea Room 7 all got into there SPX P.E shirts because of we were having our first kiwi sports for the year of 2016. Our kiwi sports for this is tennis I am really stoked to learn some new tips with our instructor James.

It was finally time for our tennis lesson so hurried to the courts so we can get started. As soon as we walked into the courts we all said “good morning James” then we were told to get one racquet from the bag and one tennis ball from the container. After we got our tennis gear we were instructed to hit the ball on the flat side then hit it again on the steel frame of the racquet

Suddenly James told us to find a partner my partner was Patrick then we had to go to a tennis net and start practising our hits, Patrick and I are very good. Then we went into a game 1 on 1 tennis. We had to get in pair of fours so we can versus the other players on the other side of the court. Our team with Motu , Anthony, Samiuela and I won our first few games to patrick's team, meanwhile James told us to come in so we can learn how to overarm serve in tennis so then we gave it a try, it was was pretty easy put all we needed to do is practise on our timing.

Time was almost over and it was time to play a quick game, around the world tennis it was are difficult game but I gave it a try. We had to hit the ball and run to the other side of the court but if you do a mistake then we are out I was part of the four survivors but then I went out with patrick and it was only Alecia and Richie left in the game and they are the two winners for our around the world game.

Sadly our tennis lesson with James had finished so It was time for us to go, we all said “thank you James and Goodbye”.

I think this is  a Good Piece of writing because of it has
good punctuation
Good Vocabulary and good spelling

Soul Friend Writing term 1

Soul Friend Day at St. Pius X
Today is Soul Friend Day at our school. A Soul Friend is a person that you look after, comfort and share ideas with him or her.  It’s like looking after a little brother or a little sister.

My soul friend is Xavier he is a new student attending SPX,  he loves to read  books, he loves to play around with his friends, he is a very smart child and I hope he will become a future leader for SPX.

It started in Ireland then It was introduced by the holy faith who started our school 58 years ago. It was a beautiful relationship, where the older student look out for the younger ones.

We look after each other, we share our lunch with one another, we go to church together, we share what we learnt in class to each other and we do everything for each other.

My holiday writing

My Holiday Writing

It was a hot sunny morning and it was time to go for a swim at Orewa Beach, big waves and heaps of shade. Hurry up shouted Mum “ we are going to be late”, so I rushed to the car and off we went.

We finally made it to our location, it was very packed at Orewa beach because there was an humongous American car show, I saw a lot of people swimming and having fun with their families. We had finally found a car park and now it’s time to swim but the tide wasn’t in so we waited. It was around 2:50pm and the tide had eventually came, “I’m going to swim now” I wishperd in my mums left ear.

The wave was very big and nice I charged through the wave, ohh so cooled but I still went for a swim. I saw heaps of people from my Church playing football in the sea so I joined. After we played football we decided to play volleyball but we were called back  buy our parents because of it was time to eat some delicious BBQ. We were all full so we went and played some beach volleyball.

Finally our volleyball game was over we all had a race to the beach I lost but the water was nice and warm. It just hit 5:30 and it was time to pack up and hit the road

My Best Writing this year (Term 4)

Learning Intention: To share an experience.
(2)White Sunday.

“ Kids time to Shine. ”

On a lovely Sunny/ Cold Sunday morning it was a time for kids to shine. A big event was happening at the World of Life church, it was the Samoan tradition called White Sunday. I was very nervous because there were over 100 people there but I had the courage.

Finally it was time to shine, I was very excited because  I was dancing and singing, It was an awesome day. We started off with Praise and worship, we sang lots of songs to honour our Heavenly Father.

After 30 minutes Praise and worship had finished and it was time for our Sunday school class items. My class had to go 3rd because it went by age groups. My class and I had been practising and practising for a long time, now we had to show the Crowd.

Eventually it was my class’s turn. We had 2 items to show the Crowd, a Skit and a Dance, we had been practising and practising now it was show time. As soon as we started I was scared because I was playing a very important part in our Skit.

After the Skit it was our final item, our Dance. We were very pleased because it was our very last dance we were dancing to Shackles by Mary Mary. We had finally finished all of our items, we were happy.

Last but not least White Sunday had finally finished and it was pack up time, I can’t wait for the next White Sunday. #lotuTamait

Visit to National Library

Friday 18th september 2015

On a lovely morning after Morning tea I was called by Joshua because of we were going to a lovely place near the city, It was the National library. What a surprise, we saw one of our teachers who left our school in 2012 it is Mrs Leaupepe. The reason why we went to the National library was because of we were invited to attend a reading conference. Our Special guest speaker was David Rilley he is an Author that wrote a book called Samoan Heroes it is an amazing story. The Samoan Heroes story is based on Mafui’e the fire keeper and Tihi Tihi and his father. Tihi Tihi’s father loves working at the old plantation, but Tihi Tihi wanted to eat a delicious fruit from the plantation but his father would not let him, he says that there is a evil creature living in the plantation. He does not like to be disturb.

Sadly the book had finished and it was question time. My question was “ What is your favourite book”. First of all I was scared to ask David a question but I had courage like Tihi Tihi and I stood up. After all our questions we decided to take a photo with David and we got a chance to meet him, He is an intelligent man.

Finally it was time to explore the Library. We started from the bottom and end up at the top we had lot’s of book in our hands we couldn’t get enough. It was time to go we waited for our books to get issued then we can leave.

It was about time we were all hungry so then we decided to go and eat a the palmers cafe in Meadow bank the food there was so nice and tasty.
It was a great experience. Thank you Mrs Kelway

Creatures of the Sea Here We Come!!!

Thursday 20th August 2015
Kelly Tarlton’s trip.

“ Creatures of the sea here we come!!!
On a lovely raining morning the whole school lined up early to get ready for our trip to Kelly Tarlton, we were looking very smart and tidy. The reason why we went to Kelly Tarlton’s was because of our school inquiry learning. Our Inquiry is about underwater and it is also about animals that live underwater.

We finally went to Kelly Tarlton. Finally we arrived and we were all excited we were welcomed by the people who worked at Kelly Tarlton's, it was so beautiful and colourful it was like I was in a fish tank.

Finally the walk had finished. We finally made it to our location, it was called Scott's Hut it was a copy of what the real one looks like back in Antarctica. It is near the Atlantic ocean. It was so amazing looking at all the old and warm stuff that are there in the hut, It reminds me of the World War II Hut.

The Hut is located in The North Shore of Cape Evans on Ross Island. The Hut has was built in 1911 by the British Antarctic and was led on by Robert Falcon Scott, but sadly Robert died in March 29 1912. Robert was part of the Navy he is the Navy Officer.

After our experience at the Hut we continued on with our underwater adventure with the school, I really enjoyed looking at the hut. I really loved it was my second time their at Kelly Tarlton’s.

Responds to Sean

Wednesday 12 August 2015

Responds to Sean:
I think Sean really made a good decision to make Shark Finning an illegal thing to do in any country because he liked sharks and knew everything about sharks and loved learning about Sharks. Sean said that Shark Finning was cutting the shark’s fin off and pushing the rest of the Shark’s body back into the ocean. Sean disliked  this thing happening and stood up for illegal Shark Finning. For a little kid like Sean he really shows us how much passion he has for shark’s.

Hockey term 3

Wednesday 5th August

~Hockey Lesson 1

On a raining morning we were so cold. We Had just found out that we have kiwisport. Our kiwisport this term is hockey, we were so excited as we had never had hockey for kiwisports before. It was so amazing.

We all rushed to the hall as it was pouring with rain. We had to sit on the floor so we could listen to the Instructor. We finally did some exercises. To begin with we jogged to the end of the hall and back.

Just as we finished we had to do another exercise activity we had to do monkey craws it was so tiring because of my hand and my legs couldn't hold my body so then I fell to the ground.

After the exercises we began with a Marble dribble we had to dribble the ball around the hall. Finally we played a game of hockey if The Instructor calls out 2, 3 or 4 then they have to run round the goal then you have to get the ball then try and get a score.

From time to time the the Blue team was getting sore. But my team the yellow team was not getting any scores we always hit the ball but it always goes out and not in the goal.

Sadly the Session was over and the blue team won the hockey game we were sweaty and out of breath. We said thank you to the Instructor then we ran back to class.
