This term we are learning about God in our Religious Education Lessons. This is my Poster about what God Is to me.

Retreat

Retreat Experience.
Our retreat at the St Francis Retreat Center was so amazing. We got to pond and we also got to know each other better. We had a Great time there, learning about the three words Tika, Pono and Aroha really made us come together as a family. My highlight at the retreat was so awesome, listing to my new role model Kid president really gave me the courage to stand us for what is right.

What really inspired me was that “ you don’t need to have a badge our some that say’s you're a leader, because of in you’re already a leader. At our retreat our key word was awesome, we tried to be awesome to each other and it worked. No matter what your always awesome. KID PRESIDENT!!

Cathedral Writing/Visit

On a lovely morning our school was going on a very special trip to the St Patrick's Cathedral.  Our trip was a pilgrimage journey.  It was a trip so we can go through the door of mercy at the cathedral.  Pope Francis has declared this year to be the Year of Mercy. Each diocese has a designated door at their cathedral to be blessed as a door of mercy.

As soon as we got there we were all excited because of some of us haven't been there before, the Cathedral was huge and it really looked so beautiful, It was time for us to go in the Cathedral we all gathered around the door of mercy, in to the door we went. It was so lovely when we walked inside because it was so quiet, people praying made the cathedral so holy, we all sat down, we were introduced by an lovely lady.

After meeting the lovely lady it was time, It was time for mass Father larry prayed and introduced our school to the whole community. We carried on with the Mass, during the Mass Father larry was singing his hymn he had a very loud and beautiful voice we were all shocked, it was time for the communion hymn. Now we were going to sing bread broken. I felt very nervous because of I was going to play the guitar, and it was my first time playing the guitar inside the Cathedral.

Once the song was over I was very happy and at the same time I was proud of myself. I took a deep breath and off I went to receive the body and blood of Jesus Christ, after communion we all sat back down for the end of the Mass.

Finally the lovely ceremony was over. As we lifted the Cathedral all of us sang a song, it was called mercyful like the Father. During the song we blessed ourselves with the Holy Water and off we went walking out of  the door of mercy. Outside we waited for the others, looking at the tall building was amazing.

Suddenly my stomach rumble I was very hungry so then we all walked to the lunch room and had our snacks, I was so full. Sadly it was time to leave we really enjoyed going  to the Cathedral I hope we get a chance to go back some day and explore more about the Cathedral!

Te Oro experience

Te oro Visit

On a lovely Morning before the lunch bell rang, the Year 8’s all gathered and off we went to Te Oro. We were invited to go to Te Oro because of we were asked to go to see some art painting and to see the Sommerville special school perform. So off we went.

As soon as we got there we were welcomed by other members of the Te Oro, we were put into our first activity. Our first activity was to make art fan, it was pretty hard but at the same time it was a great art experience. After our first lovely activity we were told to have a tour around Te Oro. We didn’t know where to start, it was a huge building so we split up and off we went for an adventure around Te Oro.

Once our adventure was over we decided to go an see some performances by some of the somerville school. They had a lovely item, “the crowd goes wild.” They really amazed the crowd. At Last the wonderful performance was over and it was time to do some more fun things. We ran around like a bunch of elephants looking for something that really amused us.

Sadly our time had come to an end and it was time for us to head back to school. Overall it was a fun experience I really hope we could go back some time this year.

After we took off our shoes we waited for the girls to enter the Marae the, they had now enter it was time the the boys to enter.
We all gathered into the Marae the boys had to sit up on the chairs while the girls were on the floor, we were told that it was time for the karaki. As Soon as the Karaki was over we all stood up to sing the welcoming song E toru Nga Mea and He honore. After our lovely hymn we all sat back down so we could listen to one of the men’s say there speech to us in Maori.

Immediately his speech was finished. Karakia and the speeches were finished, it was time for lunch we were all hungry, after our taste meal it was time to go and play, we all ran around like a pack of monkey and took photo’s in front the Marae, sadly our play time had came to an end but at the same time we very happy because of it was time to do some activities.

Science Roadshow 2016

Today for one block during school time we went to Tamaki College for the Science Roadshow. I went with a couple of Student from my class in Joshua's dad’s car. We were going so that we could Experience the way of Science. When we arrived we all had to line up with Room 5 in front of the Auditorium, then St Helier's came along and stood next to us.

After 5 or 10 minutes of sitting and chatting we finally we got into our program with the specialist, we were now allowed to go and check out the wonderful and outstanding experiments.  I wasn’t sure where I should go so I decided to go to the speed ball, then I went to the next station. The station I went to next was the tennis speed game, I had to tap the button  fast so that it can see how much force you can put into the buttons.

Afterward we were called back by Shane the Instructor we were all very excited but sadly it was time to leave. Overall I really had fun I wish we could have it again. My favourite part out of all the others was the Tennis Speed Game. Ka Kite
