Similes and Metaphor
Similes and Metaphors
1 A simile is where two things are directly compared because they share a common feature. The word AS or LIKE is used to compare the two words. Eg. As cold AS a dog's nose
A metaphor also compares two things, but it does so more directly WITHOUT using as or like. Eg. The shop was a little gold-mine.
Task One
At the end of the sentence, write in brackets whether the sentence is an example of a metaphor or simile.

Mary and Joseph Journey
Mary and Joseph walked 24.7 km and it took 5 hours and 13 minutes.They walked from Nazareth to Bethlehem.

Wheelchair Rugby
1.Wheelchair rugby is an athletic sport for paralysed people.
2.Quadriplegia is someone who is paralysed to some extent in at least three of their four limbs.
3.To play wheelchair rugby there has to be two teams on each side and one person from each team has to come into the center so the referee can throw the ball up and one of them has to hit the ball to one of their teammates.
4.Wheel blacks are a team that is New Zealand's they are called wheel black but they took the name All Blacks. The wheel blacks play wheelchair rugby but not rugby union or league.
